Wilberforce
House Museum

Hull, UK

Overview:

Wilberforce House is the birthplace of William Wilberforce, famous campaigner against the slave trade. The museum tells the story of the trans-Atlantic slave trade and its abolition, as well as dealing with contemporary slavery. Galleries also offer a fascinating glimpse into West African culture.

Seven audio visual interactive exhibits were created to show the history of the building, important historical documents and in recognition of people involved in the cause. The building itself features bricks inscribed with the names of famous human rights campaigners. This is echoed in one touchscreen piece which allows the user to choose a campaigner, remove their brick from the wall and view an educational film about them.

Role:
For Centre Screen Productions Ltd, I created all seven audio visual interactive exhibits featuring amongst other things, a loupe enabling a magnified view of important scanned documents.
